About AHS: History, Hall of Honor, How you can help...
Austin High Alumni span three centuries and several generations, across the United States and around the world. We are scholars, community leaders, government officials, medical trailblazers, world-famous musicians, professional athletes, beloved entertainers, and so much more! Maroons are everywhere! We celebrate the history of Austin High -- the professional teachers who impacted our lives as students, the classmates and friends we won’t forget, the spirit and traditions of a thriving high school -- EVERYBODY IS SOMEBODY AT AUSTIN HIGH!
Preserving the Past
Austin High School began as the “old downtown school.” Although it has moved six times since 1881, the school is still in sight of the state capitol building and continues to be the “downtown high school," serving a diverse population of Austinites. The Maroon spirit has not been lost even though the skyline has changed.
Founded in 1881, the school proudly claims more than 50,000 graduates. Graduation classes have formed bonds of friendship, later strengthened by 5-year, 10-year, 20- and even up to 70-year reunions. There was – and is – something special about “Old Austin High.”
